Ladislav Kosa is a graphic designer an illustartor based Sweden. His project FLORAVARIATIONER has its roots in everything from an elegant garden in Malmö to a wildflower meadow on the island of Öland. The result is not botanical documentation, but Ladislav Kosa’s personal interpretation and aesthetic.

Can you tell me about the projects and your work?
FLORAVARIATONER is a side project of mine and is a series of floral prints. The motifs are based on plants collected and pressed by me. After selecting and scanning the pressed plants in high resolution, I edit the flowers and leaves, combining parts with each other, adjusting the scale of them and thus create a new reinterpreted version with its own character.
I put a lot of effort in both the detail-work and also in the finished composition. After layout and retouching work, the motifs are printed on Munken Pure in an offset press.
What inspires you?
The most obvious is the nature that surrounds me since my move to countryside a couple of years ago, but a lot of experiences are inspiring – I would rank music as probably the most elevating and inspirational.
What does paper mean to you?
It means a lot. My choice for the prints is the high quality Munken Pure with the exquisite cream tone. This paper gives a tone of elegance, as well as warmth and a pleasant subdued surface that is so well suited for a home environment. It also has a wonderful tactile feel.

What are you currently working on?
I am about to finish a complementary
series of prints that are based on
autumn leaves. The color scheme will
be in rich yellow/golden/green and the
format will be square-shaped.
